Vrinda Ravi Kumar, PhD student

My interest in the integration of ecology and evolution initially came about when I worked with Dr. N.G. Prasad at IISER Mohali for my master’s thesis regarding how aggressive behaviour may evolve under a biased sex ratio. Broadly speaking, I am interested in understanding individual and group behaviour in novel environments, and how these may be adaptive. So far, my work in the lab has focused on the plasticity of diet and oviposition preferences in the red flour beetle, and how prior experience with a resource impacts subsequent preference for it. In my spare time, I enjoy reading literary and popular fiction and generally exploring subjectivities that are not often found in the lab.
